DAVID GROSS
Owner
Spanning three decades David Gross has broad expertise in all types of residential and commercial construction. In his first decade of construction, he built and developed over 150 affordable housing units in Philadelphia. During that time he also completed multiple high-end residential projects in Philadelphia’s prestigious Main Line area.
During his thirties, he made the move to Crested Butte Colorado, and worked as a lead project manager for renowned builder Fran Guy formerly of Holbrook and Guy general contractors. He then built two ultra custom modern homes with renowned architects Wernerfield in Dallas Texas for three years.
Upon his return to Crested Butte in late 2011 he was lucky enough to secure the Secret Stash new restaurant project which led to the first phase of the Club at Crested Butte’s slopeside project.
With a career spanning more than 30 years and over 100 projects, he has positioned himself as one of the top general contractors in the Gunnison valley. His experience has allowed him to be able to provide a top-quality project with efficiency and expertise.
David, along with his wife and their two children, live in Crested Butte. Their family is very involved with the Gunnison Valley Special Needs Network, where David is the co-founder and vice-president (GVSNN.) Their son, Benjamin, was born with Down Syndrome and diagnosed with Autism at the age of four. David is active in the Down Syndrome Autism Connection, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the dual diagnoses of both Down Syndrome and Autism (DS-Autism.org).
David graduated from Michigan State University. He is a six-time Ironman triathlete, and also enjoys randonee endurance skiing in the great Rocky Mountains.
LACI WRIGHT
General Manager
Laci joined the DGGC team in 2021 as a project manager, focusing on custom-home builds. Prior to DGGC, she spent five years with a global luxury property development company. Laci loves the process of developing homes, seeing an idea on paper evolve through design and into a beautiful, finished architectural product. She enjoys working directly with homeowners and appreciates the emotional connection people have with their homes.
When she’s not shuttling her kids to various activities, she enjoys camping, biking, and skiing with her family and puppy, Roger. Laci loves a good book and a good joke—but she’s only committed two jokes to memory thus far.
JASON STUBBE
Supervising Manager
Jason joined the DGGC team in 2016, bringing decades of experience in the construction industry. After moving to the valley from Alaska to attend Western Colorado University, upon graduating, Jason started working in construction while he pondered whether teaching middle school history was the right path. As the valley grew, so did the opportunities in the building industry, and Jason expanded his skill set alongside this growth, choosing to remain in the construction community.
Jason spends his free time chasing his ten-year-old around. They love to ski, bike, fish, and savor summertime when his parents visit to escape the heat.
CAROLINE SINGLETON
Office Manager
Caroline joined the DGGC production team in 2021, assisting with accounting and office management. She has lived in Crested Butte for twelve years and has an extensive background in hospitality. Previously, she managed a condo-style property on the mountain and helped start a property-management company.
Caroline enjoys hiking, skiing, camping, and visiting Colorado ghost towns with her husband and dogs.
JON BROWN
Project Manager
Jon has lived in the Gunnison Valley for 32 years, finding his way west from Rochester, NY to attend Western State University. Jon has co-founded, owned and operated a number of successful businesses in the Gunnison Valley, the most recent being the conception, build out and management of High Alpine Brewing Company in Gunnison. With more of a passion for the design and build aspect of the business, Jon sold to his partner in 2019, and is excited to now be working and focusing on build and design projects throughout the valley.
Jon is an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoys Nordic skiing, randonee skiing, mountain biking, trail running and occasionally being talked into a hike in the mountains around Colorado. Jon lives in Crested Butte with his wife, dog and two cats.
SARA HERRERA
Project Manager
Sara is a skilled project manager who brings her expertise and passion to her work at David Gross General Contractor in Crested Butte, CO. Sara's attention to detail and dedication to her work have made her a valuable member of the David Gross team. She is committed to delivering high-quality projects that exceed client expectations and is always looking for new ways to improve her skills and knowledge.
BEN SCHLOESSER
Project Manager
Ben joined the DGGC team in 2023, bringing 14 years of project management experience. Prior to DGGC, he co-founded and helped manage a Colorado-based utility scale wind and solar resource assessment contractor for over a decade. He planned, managed, and led crews in the field on hundreds of successful projects across 40 US States and internationally. Having built his own home with his wife in 2022, Ben knows first hand what building a home means to the owners and understands the value of clear communication and accountability throughout the process.
Ben grew up in North Dakota, graduated from The College of William & Mary in Virginia, and moved to the mountains of Colorado as soon as he could. Passionate about the outdoors, he spent three seasons as a fly fishing guide in Alaska, enjoys fishing, hunting, backpacking, skiing, cycling, and spending as much time outside as possible with his wife and two children. Having traveled extensively, he is convinced the Gunnison Valley is the absolute sweet spot of Colorado and has called it home since 2017.
MICHAEL CASTENADA
Accounting Manager
Michael Castenada, the go-to guy for all things numbers at David Gross General Contractor. As the Accounting Manager, Michael brings a keen eye for detail and a knack for financial management to the team. When he's not crunching numbers, you'll find Michael on the football field, shredding the slopes on his snowboard, or hitting the trails on his bike. With his passion for sports and adventure, coupled with his financial expertise, Michael is a trusted and dynamic asset to the team at David Gross General Contractor.
CHRISTINA SPATHAROS
Accounting Manager
Christina Spatharos is a proud resident of Crested Butte, CO, where she has been living for the past eleven years. Originally from North Carolina, Christina made the bold move to the Rocky Mountains in pursuit of her passion for nature and outdoor adventure.
Professionally, Christina is an Accounting Manager at David Gross General Contractor, where she manages the financial aspects of her projects with precision and expertise. Christina holds a degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University, which speaks to her love for learning and her dedication to personal and professional growth.
Outside of work, Christina's true joy lies in exploring the majestic mountains that surround her. She spends her spare time camping, biking, hiking, paddleboarding, traveling and embarking on adventures with her husband, daughter, and beloved dog. Her warm personality, strong work ethic, and love for the outdoors make her a valuable member of the DGGC team!
